About

I was trained as an architect and spent fifteen years as a graphic designer. Now I tear up magazines.

Every piece is built from found photographs — fragments of a ship, a tree, someone's arm, a bolt of patterned fabric — cut and layered onto canvas until they stop being what they were. Nothing is painted. Nothing is drawn.

What I'm after is a picture that changes depending on where you stand. Up close you can see every scrap for what it is. From across the room it closes into something else entirely. If it gives you something new on the tenth look, it's finished.

I also write. The poems and the collages come from the same instinct — collecting pieces that don't belong together and finding out what happens when they touch.
